BG Mosquitaire
BG-Mosquitaire – tiger mosquito trap for your backyard
The BG-Mosquitaire uses a unique, patented technology to attract and catch the Asian tiger mosquito and yellow fever mosquito without insecticides.
Lures tiger mosquitoes the same way a human does
The BG-Mosquitaire is specifically developed for catching Asian tiger mosquitoes (Aedes albopictus) and yellow fever mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti) — the two most invasive and dangerous mosquito species in the US.
It uses a patented combination of three attractants that work together:
- Visual signals — the black and white pattern and size of the trap mimics a human body
- Air flow — the fan creates a warm convection current similar to the heat rising from a human
- BG-Sweetscent — a patented attractant that imitates human skin scents (lactic acid-based formula)
Approaching mosquitoes are sucked into a catch bag by the fan, where they die of dehydration. No insecticides. No chemicals. No smell.
Proven results: 85% fewer mosquito bites
A field study in Cesena, Italy measured biting pressure in areas with Biogents traps vs. areas without. The result: an 85% decrease in tiger mosquito landings — without insecticidal fogging or spraying.

Placement and operation tips
Where to place the trap
The BG-Mosquitaire works best when positioned correctly. Tiger mosquitoes rest in low vegetation and fly close to the ground, so placement matters.
- Shady, humid spots — under trees, near shrubs, along fence lines
- Wind-protected areas — strong wind disperses attractants
- Near breeding sites — close to containers, garden beds, or standing water
- About 20 yards from where you spend time outdoors
Try several positions — a few meters can make a big difference in catch rates.

The trap works by continuously intercepting mosquitoes that patrol your yard looking for a blood meal. Because it operates 24/7, the effect builds over time:
- Days 1–3: Trap begins catching patrolling mosquitoes
- Week 1: Biting pressure starts to noticeably reduce
- Ongoing: Population declines as breeding females are caught — each caught female means 50–150 fewer eggs
Run the trap continuously (24/7) for best results. The low power consumption (<5 Watts) means it costs less to run than an energy-saving light bulb.
BG-Sweetscent – the secret weapon
The BG-Mosquitaire comes with a BG-Sweetscent attractant, which is key to its performance against tiger mosquitoes.
The BG-Sweetscent is a lactic acid-based formula that imitates the composition of human skin scents. Tiger mosquitoes find their hosts primarily by detecting breath and skin scents — the BG-Sweetscent replicates these cues.
- Lasts up to 2 months per sachet
- EPA registered attractant
- Safe — food grade quality components
- No smell detectable by humans after a short time
Note: If you can no longer smell the BG-Sweetscent, it is still working. The human nose quickly adapts to the scent. Replace after 2 months, not before.
Combine for even better results
Add the BG-Booster CO2 to attract all mosquito species including floodwater and house mosquitoes.
