Placement & Usage

For maximum catch rates, the correct placement of the trap is essential

In order to get the highest catch rates, test different locations.

The BG-Mosquitaire mosquito trap is to be used outdoors in the garden. Place the trap on the ground near resting areas of the mosquitoes, e.g., in shady, wind-protected places with high humidity such as in sparse shrubs. However, the trap should not be too hidden, but still visible. Do not place the trap directly on the terrace/patio and not in direct sunlight.

Enhance your mosquito control with the BG-Mosquitaire by eliminating breeding sites: Empty or completely cover rain barrels; remove old tires; empty plant saucers, buckets, and other water holding containers; keep rain gutters clear.

What does BG-Mosquitaire do?

It targets mosquitoes that are seeking a host and want to bite you.

What is the power consumption of the the BG-Mosquitaire?

The BG-Mosquitaire trap needs only 5 watts to run.

How can I ensure that the mosquitoes caught in the catch bag of the BG-Mosquitaire and are still alive do not fly out of the bag while I am changing it?

Slightly pull the intake funnel out of the trap so that the catch bag is still within the suction current of the fan. Pull the catch bag off the funnel net, and simultaneously tighten the cord of the bag so it is shut. You can find these directions in the instructions manual that is provided in the packaging.

How and when do I change the catch bags of the BG-Mosquitaire?

We recommend changing bags regularly, at least every time you change the attractant if you use the BG-Sweetscent. A bag that is clogged with captured mosquitoes does not allow the fan to suck properly and makes the trap less effective. The steps for changing the catch bag can be found in the instructions manual that is provided in the packaging.

Do they work for camping?

Biogents mosquito traps can be installed on permanent campsites (outdoor BG-Mosquitaire and BG-GAT) and in campsite accommodation (BG-Home). It is important to choose the right position near mosquito resting areas. In order to increase your catch rate and the range of mosquito species captured, you would need to use an additional attractant with your BG-Mosquitaire, such as CO2.

Why do I need to keep my trap continuously plugged in?

The BG-Mosquitaire should be plugged in 24/7 to keep the catch rate constant and significantly reduce the mosquito population also when you are not in the garden. Catch them before they bite you! The same applies to the BG-Home.

Can I use the BG-Mosquitaire inside?

Theoretically you can use the BG-Mosquitaire indoors (without CO2). But don't forget that the BG-Mosquitaire is designed for outdoor use. Mosquitoes are mostly present outdoors, and therefore we recommend catching mosquitoes outdoors before they enter the house. The BG-Home will help you to catch the few mosquitoes that enter your home.

I can see the results

I love my mosquito trap. Every afternoon I check it and see new mosquitos I caught the night before. It is so satisfying. I learned how to operate the CO2 and using it more efficiently now. I love the design. Yes it a pricey initial setup but I see my returns every night and I know I am taking these mosquitos out of the gene pool. Much more preferred than those ridiculous candles that shoo them away for a while. I love every aspect of the design from the fan to the catching net to the CO2 regulator. The only thing I dont care for it is the power regulator box in the power line that converts 120VAC to what ever power the fan uses. But it an awesome unit. Love how the trap automatically shuts when power is lost or removed, keeping my catch secure within the trap. The netting system is great too preventing escapees. Catching these flying beasts has already taken a dent out of them landing in me or my guests while we on my back patio. I so glad I took a chance with this product.

Catches all the baddies!

I've been using the Mosquitaire for a few weeks now (with a CO2 tank) and it has been great. I check the bag every few days just to see more of those suckers trapped in there!
