The outdoor mosquito traps BG-Mosquitaire and BG-GAT combine the control of tiger mosquitoes that are seeking a blood meal host and want to bite you with the control of tiger mosquitoes that are looking for a place to lay their eggs. Targeting these different stages of their lifecycle prevents both biting as well as future generations of tiger mosquitoes.
The indoor mosquito trap BG-Home additionally protects you from mosquito bites at home. It particularly targets tiger mosquitoes and optionally other flying pest insects inside the house.

Development
The BG-GAT trap was developed by Dr. A. E. Eiras from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and Dr. S. A. Ritchie from the James Cook University, Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Biogents produces and distributes the trap under a license agreement with both universities.

Placement
FOR MAXIMUM CATCH RATES, THE CORRECT PLACEMENT OF THE TRAPS IS ESSENTIAL
In order to get the highest catch rates, test different locations.
The mosquito traps BG-Mosquitaire and BG-GAT are to be used outdoors in the garden. Place the traps on the ground near resting areas of the mosquitoes, e.g., in shady, wind-protected places with high humidity such as in sparse shrubs. Do not place the traps directly on the terrace/patio and not in direct sunlight. However, the traps should not be too hidden, but still visible.
To find the best place for your BG-Home indoor trap, search for a position where mosquitoes enter the house, or a dark corner on the floor or near plants. It is important to make sure that the fan of the trap runs 24 hours a day and especially during the time you are not at home. Do not hide the trap, nor place it too high (not more than 1m above the ground).
For an efficient and sustainable mosquito control it is necessary to avoid competition between the BG-GAT trap and other breeding sites. Therefore, remove or empty competing breeding sites, such as flowerpots, vases, buckets, water barrels, rain gutters, discarded cups and bottles, and plants that hold small quantities of water.

* With the BG-GAT trap, a lower catch rate is normal and to be expected, as it will catch those mosquitoes that are looking for an egg-laying site and not those that want to bite a human for a blood meal. This naturally affects a smaller number of mosquitoes, but they lay a large number of eggs to have offspring (50 to 100 per mosquito).
** Since generally there are less mosquitoes indoors than outdoors, indoors are also less mosquitoes captured.
